My Birthday, Part 2

sunnyday

Rise and shine! At *ahem* 2pm. Don’t birthday celebrations just take it all out of you?
Saturday was my actual birthday, and it was wonderful! Even though I haven’t planned on being so gross, I stayed in my pyjamas all day. I was slovenly and edacious; but happy.

I went out with arms wide open (as far as my garden) to greet the day, which was balmy and sunny. There were clouds here and there trying to occasionally ruin the fun; but I wasn’t about to indulge them.

My sister and I decided there was no better way to start a birthday than with brunch, so we made plenty of pancakes and bacon. I always use this recipe for easy, foolproof, work every time light and fluffy pancakes.

We piled everything up, before drowning it all in a river of maple syrup, and washed it down with lots of coffee, orange juice and ice cold cava.
birthdaymuffin
Just when I thought I couldn’t eat anymore, this birthday muffin arrived in the kitchen, with my family in tow..singing happy birthday (I’m doing well, I’ve been serenaded two days in a row now!) I thought I would never say this..but I was delighted that it was a muffin and not a giant cake.

Misty wanted to know what all the commotion was about, and walked gingerly toward the kitchen. Ha! Get it?! Double joke.

Cookie, on the other hand…didn’t care for it.

I got some really gorgeous and generous stuff for my birthday. ASOS and Missguided stuff, tops and shorts in beautiful prints from River Island. MAC lipstick (in Russian Red!) Ted Baker earrings, Benefit’s Cha Cha Tint..Moët and lots of red wine.

Now it’s all over for another year..but the kindness of my family and friends won’t be forgotten!
