Avocado on my eyes…

P1030727Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado – €25.50

…and a series of other things in my day to day inventory.

I bought this Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado along with their Skin Rescuer (not much to comment on so far about that purchase…) and I can’t get enough of it. I love the texture and the natural green colour  (from those avocados, obviously..) as well as both the instantaneous and continuous effects it has had on my eyes. I put it on before bed and in the mornings too, it feels very luxurious indeed, especially after a few too many Long Island Ice Teas. A tiny amount goes a very long way so I’ll have it for a pretty long time. It’s hydrating and brightening and makes for a very good eye primer indeed. I don’t think it’s aimed at the market for those with wrinkles etc but if if your eye area is moisturised and the cream feels cooling, shouldn’t it work a little magic on preventing puffiness and wrinkles anyway? I’m never not going to buy this.

P1030730 Topshop Crescent Moon Highlighter – €18.00 (although I think it should be €13.00…)

I have about five highlighters. It irritates me. I don’t need five. They’re all pretty and pearly and the magpie in me had to accumulate a collection but really, before I found this one, they were all a bit meh. I’m a fan of cream blushes but I’ve decided that I am not a fan of cream or liquid highlighters. Just no, never again. I’ve spend so much money on them and they look ok, nothing too incredible, they did the job, or so I thought. I find they sort of make my highlighted areas look like a puddle after rain, with that film of twirly iridescent rainbow colour you see in potholes on the streets. No face is supposed to be iridescent, it’s supposed to be dewy with a slight non-puddlelike glow. I tried my luck on Topshop’s Crescent Moon highlighter and yeah, I need never find another highlighter again! It’s easier to apply and it doesn’t look heavy handed, even if I’m lazy and throw it on carelessly. It’s powder, so it blends well. It’s also not pink, or too gold like some I’ve bought in the past (mainly Benefit ones) I guess it can only be described as a beautiful shortbread biscuit colour. It’s great. Again with this product, it seems to last forever and wasn’t too expensive either. I was on a very good product roll last month.

P1030733KIKO Dark Heroine Brush – €15.90

KIKO Cosmetics is somewhere I went to a lot in Salamanca when I wanted cheap nail polish or lipstick (they have great half price offers on a different makeup product each week) but that was where I would draw the line. While in Puerto Banús a few weeks ago on my trip to Marbella, I went in in search of a foundation brush as I forgot to pack mine. I came out with a beast of a brush, known as ‘The Dark Heroine Face Brush‘ which is the king of all brushes and only cost me €15.90. One side is a powder brush, one is a stippling brush. Both are of amazing quality, great for travelling, for powder, blush, concealer, foundation (ok, I clean it a lot..) but because of it’s double-sided handiness, I find myself reaching for it everyday over my Real Techniques brushes. This brush is limited edition. I think you should get one.

P1030738Hugo Boss – Jour Pour Femme, 30ml – €46.00

The first scent of this stuff and I was hooked. It was another thing I picked up in Puerto Banús after a lot of messing about with perfumes throughout my trip when a perfume store presented itself to me. I’m a bit of a perfume whore. I want to be one of those women who have a scent they stick with, that they’re known by, that invoke memories, but I get bored after 8 months to maybe a year of the same scent. I’m also incredibly fussy – it can’t be sweet and sickly. It has to be slightly floral and musky, more grown up, if you will.  I’ve worn this everyday and I love it. The scent is invigorating, sophisticated and makes me feel elegant. It doesn’t fade (a huge thing for me also, I hate to reapply) and when it settles, it lingers like that for the day. I bought the small bottle (perfume whore thing again) but it’s the nicest scent I’ve come across in a while so it might push the boundaries of my usual short lived flings.

P1030737Catrice Ultimate Shine Gel Lip Colour in Orangina – Can’t remember the price, maybe €3-4?

Coraly-orangey-red lipsticks. I can’t get enough of them. Which is fine, because I actually use them so regularly that they don’t go to waste. A few weeks ago I picked this shade up in Penney’s/Primark, based on the colour and the gorgeous tube alone. I had no idea this was going to be such a winner. It smells delicious, it’s smooth, highly pigmented and feels slick when you apply, due to the gel texture but isn’t overtly shiny like the image above looks and it’s in no way sticky. I can’t remember the price because when I go to Penney’s I buy an unhealthy amount of things because it’s so cheap, but I think between €3-€4. Packaging really worked here, so you go Catrice – I’ll be buying more of your stuff and my Mother pinches this when she can.

Babyliss hot air rotating brush thing, I can’t remember life before you! I spin this thing up and down sections of hair and upward from my roots (I’m a pro now, you see) and let the ends curl like a hot roller for a few minutes, creating a big and bouncy blowdry which in the past has only been bestowed upon me by my hairdresser. It leaves your hair light and smooth, soft and frizz-free, so the only time I use my straightener now is for my fringe. I love this thing but a styling creme is definitely needed, or things will go down south.

P1030734Aussie Take the Heat Leave-in Cream – €5.99

My hot rotating brush addiction means a little more heat on my hair, so I’ve using this leave-in cream from Aussie, which I’m very glad I picked up indeed. I love the texture (a lot of texture references in this post…sorry but texture is important!) it’s gooey and gel like and luxurious. It makes my hair smell good, adds to the smoothness the styler achieves and my ends look strong and healthy. Using this regularly is a good habit with good timing, as winter tends to beat my hair up and festive parties will be coming up by the stockingful so partayyy hair has added protection.

These are my very faves at the moment. If you came across this post out of curiosity regarding any of the above, buy. Just dooooo it. I’ll leave you now with an image of the pumpkin my sister carved for Halloween, which is still going strong.
