Notes from my kitchen table

While moving into a new apartment is an exciting time for anyone, some may find it even more exciting to envision themselves cooking up a storm in their newly acquired kitchen, with a well stocked fridge; the shelves bright with fresh and colourful ingredients. I am definitely one of those people. I want to take total advantage of the city around me, sourcing the best local fare to follow and enjoy the recipes in my new cookbook, Notes From My Kitchen by Gwyneth Paltrow.

I have always been a Gwyneth fan. Admittedly, I couldn’t tell you much about the movies she’s appeared in, but anytime she has been interviewed, she comes across as an incredibly warm, intelligent and genuine person. When I discovered that she had spent some time living in Madrid as a teenager (she cites her host family as her second family to this day) and is also fluent in Spanish, I thought this book would be the perfect choice for trying healthy and creative dishes. It’s designed beautifully, as well as being incredibly thought out and personal. She talks about her late Father’s love of good food and wine, their close relationship, and how cooking is something they will always share. The book is filled with lots of tips and variations to suit any occasion, and her Spanish influence and her love for the Spanish way of life resonates throughout the book.

I’m looking forward to trying and testing, taking lots of pictures along the way.
