Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser – The Ultimate Daily Face Wash

It’s a SKINCARE post! You may notice one of these pops up every now and again when I’m truly fanatical about a product.
Who doesn’t love skincare? There’s no better feeling than keeping one’s complexion squeaky clean, which really is essential after a day of exposure to all sorts of pollution. This daily dose of gross inevitably leaves each pore teeming with dirt and gunge and other detestable things that admittedly, the curious side of me would love to see under a microscope.
Obviously you want rid of as much of that stuff as humanly possible, without stripping your skin and destroying all the good stuff in the process. And it’s safe to say Glossier Milky Jelly cleanser is one of the good ones. In fact, it’s one of the great ones. I’ve been using this since February, and I can find nothing wrong with it. Zilch. Zero. Nada. Everything is right with it, and that is thanks to the very savvy Glossier team.

You may recognise the name, a brand that was born from Emily Weiss’s popular website, IntoTheGloss.com, where we can all go to have a little nose around and see what beauty products are used by celebrities and models alike. With the experience under her belt of photographing and interviewing IntoTheGloss features, Emily has seen her fair share of bathroom cabinets and holy grail products. As a result, she wanted to make her own hard-working but gentle line of skincare and beauty products.
There are already a few Glossier products on the market that have a huge following, namely Balm Dotcom and Boy Brow. But Milky Jelly Cleanser I was particularly interested in when Emily wrote a post some time ago asking readers about their dream cleanser; what it would  and wouldn’t do do as a product. I read IntoTheGloss daily and kept an eye out to see what the team would come up with.

Behold! The Holy Grail of face washes. Perfect for all skin types, including the incredibly sensitive folk. Glossier created MJC so that it can be used on dry skin to remove makeup and all sorts of lovely grime, and of course on wet skin in the morning to start your day. The formula is PH balanced, contains five skin conditioners and contains the same cleansing ingredients as contact lens solution, so it’s incredibly gentle. The full list is here.

Keeping with the contact solution part – I rub the jelly gently over my eyes and between my eyelashes, to give makeup no chance of survival. This is the only product I’ve ever been able to do that with without it stinging or irritating my eyes, because as we all know, most products don’t belong near the eyes – so this is a complete game changer. Admittedly if my eyes itch from hay fever, I’ve been known to rub this all over them and give them a good wash and it tends to stop the crazy itching. Invaluable.

The consistency is also fun – it really is like a jelly. It’s fun to rub all over your face whether it’s wet or dry, and has a gentle rosewater scent. It genuinely does get rid of every trace of makeup, the first product I’ve used that truly has; and I know many make this claim and make it lightly. Now that being said, you might find a tiny bit of black underneath your eyes in the morning as skin becomes oily during the night, but it’s easily removed with one swipe.

Milky Jelly Cleanser is an excellent product, leaving you makeup free with a plump even glowing complexion.
I know I previously mentioned there are no cons with this product, and there aren’t. But the product distribution and availability is a bit of a problem, unfortunately!

Currently, Glossier products are only available to buy online on their site for delivery within the USA and Puerto Rico. D’oh.
I was fortunate that a good friend was able to get me some during a work placement in Connecticut and the bottles are hella long lasting (I’m not even halfway through my first bottle and he got me two!)
And the only place you can get it is eBay, but the prices are twice what you would pay for one bottle, and then there’s postage!
So if you’re interested in trying this kick ass cleanser, hit up a family member/friend/J1 student heading to America this summer and ask them to get some for you – you won’t regret it.

A minimal amount of effort for a squeaky clean face. Let me tell you, it’s worth the wait.
